Job summary

Key Talent Solutions is seeking a Head of Design – Ireland to lead multidisciplinary MEP design for a major healthcare-led project. You will drive design strategy, governance and interface coordination across mechanical, electrical and BIM teams.

This senior role suits an experienced design leader from a consultancy or design-led contractor, with a track record of delivering compliant, buildable outputs and coordinating cross-disciplinary delivery teams on complex schemes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading MEP design strategy and technical governance.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, BIM interfaces and design submissions.
• Review specifications, calculations, schematics, and risks.
• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to ensure compliant, buildable designs.
• Healthcare project experience valuable but not essential.
• Senior design leadership from consultancy or design-led contractor preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP design strategy and technical governance for the project.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, BIM, and specialist interfaces.
• Review specifications, calculations, schematics, submissions and risks.
• Coordinate consultants, contractors, BIM and delivery teams.
• Ensure designs are compliant, coordinated, buildable and robust.
• Support offsite MEP, DFMA, modularisation, installation and handover.
• Act as senior technical design authority for the project.

Working pattern: 4 days office / project-based, 1 day from home

We are supporting a leading MEP / Building Services business with the appointment of a Head of Design – Ireland for a major healthcare-led project.

This is a senior technical leadership role for someone who can lead multidisciplinary MEP design, manage technical governance, coordinate mechanical / electrical / BIM interfaces, and ensure design outputs are compliant, buildable, and ready for delivery.

Healthcare experience would be a strong advantage, but it is not essential. Strong MEP design leadership from a consultancy or design-led contractor background is the priority.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Leading MEP design strategy and technical governance
• Managing mechanical, electrical, BIM, and specialist design interfaces
• Reviewing specifications, calculations, schematics, submissions, and design risks
• Coordinating consultants, contractors, commercial teams, BIM teams, and project delivery teams
• Ensuring designs are compliant, coordinated, buildable, and commercially robust
• Supporting offsite MEP, DFMA, modularisation, installation, commissioning, and handover
• Acting as the senior technical design authority for the project

This role would suit a:

**You should bring strong experience across MEP / Building Services design leadership, ideally from a consultancy or design-led contractor environment**
