Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment supports a leading Medical Device client in South Dublin seeking an Automation Engineering Leader. You will spearhead strategy, design, commissioning, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing systems while guiding a team of engineers and technicians.

The role balances high-level technical leadership with people management, aiming to maximise uptime, throughput and safety across the site. This permanent position offers a comprehensive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

8+ years in automation/related fields.
Experience with Allen Bradley / Rockwell products and coding from specs.
Experience with Cognex vision systems and Control networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA).
Experience integrating and configuring complex VFD/Servo motion systems.
Experience with SCADA/HMI (Allen Bradley, Schneider).
Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA networks.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the long-term automation strategy aligned with site targets.
Manage, mentor, and upskill a team of Automation Engineers and Technicians.
Lead automation projects plant-wide and liaise with vendors for design and commissioning.
Drive continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma and project management methods.
Allocate engineering resources for daily operations and long-term deployments.
Act as escalation point for complex automation issues to minimise downtime.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot to root cause.
