Head Groundsperson

Job Overview: Are you an experienced head gardener or grounds manager with a passion for maintaining estate grounds? We’re looking for a dedicated Head Grounds Person to lead the care and ongoing development of some beautiful gardens, grounds, and woodlands in Kildare, Ireland. As well as manage a team of 6 gardening and grounds staff. This is a very hands on role, for someone that loves working outdoors.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance and presentation of extensive private grounds, including formal gardens, fencing, hedges, tree felling, lawns, woodlands, and open spaces
  • Lead, manage, and motivate a team of 6 garden staff and manage their day to day duties
  • Co-ordinate the overall maintenance of the grounds of a few thousand acres
  • Liaise with external contractors as necessary
  • Purchasing of garden machinery and supplies

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in estate, gardens or grounds management
  • Amenity Horticulture qualification
  • Hands-on horticultural knowledge and a proactive, practical approach
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Organised, reliable and able to prioritise work effectively across multiple areas
