Job summary

Atlantic Aviation Group, Shannon Airport, Shannon, Co Clare, is seeking a Group Accounts Assistant to join the Finance team. The role reports to the Finance Manager and involves multi-entity group accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, budget and statutory reporting, and tax compliance.

The successful candidate will have ACA/ACCA/CIMA or be newly qualified, strong Excel and analytical skills, and a disciplined, detail-focused approach in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Newly qualified accountant or part qualified with ACA, ACCA or CIMA.

  • Experience in group reporting, multi-entity structures or consolidation would be a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly management accounts across Group entities.
  • Support the Group month-end close process, including posting of nominal ledger journals and accruals.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and monthly variance analysis for management.
  • Support the preparation of Group reporting packs for senior management and the Board.
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasts and longer-term financial planning.
  • Support statutory financial statements and related schedules for Group entities.
  • Prepare schedules for audit, tax compliance and regulatory reporting.
  • Assist with tax compliance activities including VAT and Corporation Tax.
  • Support treasury and cash management activities and cash flow forecasting.
  • Review expenditure and provide commentary on cost performance and trends.
  • Partner with operational teams to provide financial analysis and insight for decision making.
  • Support pricing, tendering, investment appraisal and business case development.
  • Contribute to improvement of financial policies, controls and reporting processes.
  • Participate in finance process standardisation and ERP initiatives.
  • Work with the Finance team to ensure high-quality financial information.
  • Support senior management on strategic finance initiatives and ad hoc analysis.

Duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:

Essential Job Function

  • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly management accounts across Group entities, ensuring results are accurate, complete and delivered within agreed reporting deadlines.
  • Support the Group month-end close process, including the preparation and posting of nominal ledger journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are investigated, explained and resolved on a timely basis.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis, KPI reporting and commentary for management, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities and areas requiring action.
  • Support the preparation of Group reporting packs for senior management, the CFO, the Board and other internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and longer‑term financial planning across the Group.
  • Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and related schedules for Group entities.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and analysis in connection with the annual audit, statutory accounts, tax compliance and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Support tax compliance activities across the Group, including VAT, Corporation Tax and other relevant returns or submissions, working with external advisers where required.
  • Assist with Group treasury and cash management activities, including cash flow forecasting, working capital analysis and banking-related reporting.
  • Review expenditure on an ongoing basis and provide clear commentary on cost performance, trends and areas for management attention.
  • Partner with operational, commercial, engineering and support teams to provide financial analysis and insight that supports effective decision making.
  • Support pricing, tendering, investment appraisal, contract review and business case development where financial input is required.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting processes across the Group.
  • Participate in ongoing improvement, standardisation and re‑engineering of finance processes and controls, including the implementation of best practice across business units.
  • Support finance system development, ERP‑related initiatives, reporting automation and integration activity across the Group.
  • Work closely with other members of the Finance team to ensure the smooth running of the department and the consistent delivery of high-quality financial information.
  • Support the CFO, Head of Finance and wider senior management team on strategic finance initiatives, ad hoc analysis and project work.
  • Other duties and responsibilities identified by the Head of Finance or CFO as they relate to Finance.

Candidate Requirements

  • Newly qualified accountant/Part Qualified with ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
