Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Store Manager to lead our retail store operations. The Store Manager will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, achieving sales targets, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with company standards. This role requires strong leadership, operational excellence, and the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Oversee day-to-day store operations, ensuring smooth, efficient, and customer-focused service.

Implement and maintain company policies, standards, and procedures.

Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory accuracy to minimize waste and maximize availability.

Team Management

Recruit, train, and develop team members to foster a culture of performance and engagement.

Provide ongoing coaching, performance reviews, and succession planning.

Schedule staff effectively to balance operational needs with cost efficiency.

Customer Experience

Ensure an excellent in-store shopping experience through a focus on service, standards, and availability.

Handle escalated customer queries and complaints professionally and effectively.

Drive customer loyalty initiatives to strengthen repeat business.

Manage budgets, forecasts, and P&L performance.

Monitor sales trends and implement initiatives to achieve revenue and margin goals.

Control operational costs and ensure compliance with financial procedures.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure the store operates in line with health & safety, food safety, and legal requirements.

Promote a safe working and shopping environment for employees and customers.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a high level of commercial acumen
  • A successful track record of managing a number of different departments at a managerial level
  • Minimum of 10 years management experience in grocery retail industry, in both fresh and ambient departments
  • A self-starter with strong drive, an appetite for hard work who demonstrates energy and an ambition to succeed
  • Able to demonstrate strong leadership and team building skills
  • Excellent analytical skills with a particular focus on P&L management
  • Flexible management style; able to celebrate success, motivate and have difficult conversations with colleagues and managers
