Job summary

Abbott in Ireland is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and support our global manufacturing network. You will ensure secure, reliable connectivity across sites and enable critical manufacturing operations with enterprise LAN/WLAN solutions.

You will lead network projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate with Cybersecurity to enforce standards and segmentation. Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching/routing, Cisco wireless, firewalls, TCP/IP, and network

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise-scale network environments.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Switching and Routing.
• Cisco Wireless technologies.
• Enterprise Firewalls (Palo Alto or Check Point).
• TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
• Network Security principles and best practices.
• Experience supporting manufacturing or OT environments is desirable.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong customer-focused mindset with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support large-scale enterprise LAN, WLAN, and network infrastructure solutions.
• Provide technical leadership for manufacturing network projects, refresh initiatives, and site expansions.
• Support day-to-day operational activities and troubleshoot complex network issues across manufacturing environments.
• Drive improvements in network performance, reliability, availability, and security.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to understand operational requirements and deliver effective network solutions.
• Partner with Cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with security standards and segmentation initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, network designs, and implementation plans.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to business stakeholders and project teams.
• Contribute to network automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
