Job Summary

Zurich Life Ireland (ZLAP) is seeking a German-speaking Life Insurance Underwriter/Claims Assessor to evaluate applications and claims for Life and Serious Illness products. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of market experience as an Underwriter.

This role can be full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate's needs. Please discuss flexibility during the interview process.

The position is a "Controlled Function (CF)" under the Central Bank Reform Act, 2010. Acceptance is contingent upon meeting the Central Bank Fitness and Probity Standards and possessing relevant qualifications from an MCC perspective.

Your Role

As a German Life Insurance Underwriter/Claims Assessor, your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Making quality, timely decisions aligned with Zurich's underwriting and claims philosophies.
  2. Communicating effectively with stakeholders, including customers and advisors.
  3. Explaining decisions to resolve challenges.
  4. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  5. Acting with integrity and a positive attitude.
  6. Taking ownership of personal development and supporting team growth through training and feedback.
  7. Driving quality within the team by providing feedback and root cause analysis to prevent errors.
Your Skills and Experience

To succeed, you should have:

  • Fluent written and spoken German.
  • 3-5 years of market experience with underwriting authority for Life, Serious Illness, or risk claims, or a medical qualification such as nursing.
  • A relevant degree or industry/medical qualification.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team, with self-motivation.
Additional Information

The primary work location is Blackrock, Dublin. The role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days in the office per week. Initial onboarding will be office-based.
