Job summary

CEL Critical Power is seeking a General Operator to support our manufacturing team in Ireland. After a 3‑month training period you will assemble switchgear components, follow quality control procedures and EHS standards, and keep a clean, audit‑ready workspace.

Starting from 14.50 per hour, the role offers training, progression opportunities and exposure to international projects as CEL expands its US operations.

Qualifications

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly or mechanical build.
  • Ability to read basic mechanical drawings or instructions.
  • Good EHS and housekeeping awareness.
  • Strong communication and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Environmental, Health and Safety procedures.
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment.
  • Perform manual handling up to 23 kg.
  • Maintain a clean, auditable workstation.
  • Follow Quality Control procedures and drawings.
  • Assemble switchgear frames and components.
  • Prepare cables, print labels, and assemble electrical sub-assemblies.
  • Install doors, hinges and fixings; prep for shipment.
  • Support other departments as required daily.
  • Maintain housekeeping to audit-ready state.

Reporting to a Production Supervisor this role requires our General Operators to perform their daily work tasks effectively and efficiently to the highest level of Quality / EHS standards meeting specified targets and reporting all issues as required by CEL. Full training will be provided to all employees to allow them to progress through their time with CEL. At the end of your 3-month training period you will be capable of completing the role as defined below.

Main Duties:
  • Comply with CEL’s Environmental, Health and Safety Procedures:
  • Using hand tools and equipment safely and as trained.
  • Perform manual handling tasks safely, including lifting and moving components (up to 23 kg).
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and audit‑ready workstation.
  • Ensure scrap and waste materials are stored safely prior to collection.
  • Follow the Company’s Quality Control Systems:
  • Follow all company Quality Control procedures, work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Complete tasks to defined build quality, torque, alignment and finish standards.
  • Report any non‑conformances, damaged components or build issues to the Supervisor or QA team.
  • Maintain a right‑first‑time mindset to reduce rework and defects
  • Assist in building switchgear panels using schematic, mechanical and general assembly drawings:
  • Carry out preparatory work on switchgear components e.g. cable stripping / label printing.
  • Assist with the mechanical assembly of switchgear frames.
  • Complete the assembly of mechanical components e.g. copper assembly.
  • Complete the assembly of electrical sub-assemblies e.g. wire harnesses and panel plates.
  • Install panel doors, hinges, locks and mechanical fixings to defined build standards.
  • Support the wrapping and preparation of finished products for shipment.
  • Be required to help in other departments as required daily.
  • Maintain area housekeeping standards to ensure a consistent and audit ready state.
  • Any other duties within any associated department as requested by your Production Supervisor.
Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, assembly or mechanical build environment.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools or assembly equipment.
  • Ability to read and work from basic mechanical drawings or assembly instructions.
  • Have strong EHS and housekeeping awareness.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-organised, self-motivated and able to multi-task.
  • Have a willingness to learn and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a physically active role (standing, bending, lifting).

Starting from €14.50 per hour depending on experience
