Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and people-management abilities.
  • Ability to drive works on site and ensure programme targets are achieved.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and quality requirements in construction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all day-to-day construction activities on site.
  • Supervise and coordinate direct labour, subcontractors and trades to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and wider project team to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure works are completed in accordance with the agreed construction programme.
  • Plan and organise daily and weekly site activities to maintain progress and achieve key project milestones.
  • Monitor workmanship across the site and address any quality or construction issues as they arise.
  • Organise and coordinate labour, plant, materials and other site resources.
  • Maintain an accurate site diary and appropriate records of site activities, progress and resources.
  • Maintain strong communication between site management, subcontractors, consultants, trades and other members of the project team.
  • Attend site and project meetings and communicate any issues affecting the day-to-day running of the project.
  • Implement and maintain the company's Safety Management System and Quality Management System.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced General Foreman / Site Manager to join one of our client's site teams, a leading main contractor, on a commercial construction project in Dublin.

This is a full-time, permanent position suited to an experienced construction professional with a strong background in managing day-to-day site operations, coordinating subcontractors and trades, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of the project, working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team to ensure programme, quality and safety objectives are achieved.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all day-to-day construction activities on site.
  • Supervise and coordinate direct labour, subcontractors and trades to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and wider project team to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure works are completed in accordance with the agreed construction programme.

  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality requirements.

  • Monitor the delivery and availability of materials to ensure works progress without unnecessary delays.
  • Maintain an accurate site diary and appropriate records of site activities, progress and resources.
  • Maintain strong communication between site management, subcontractors, consultants, trades and other members of the project team.
  • Organise and lead daily site/whiteboard meetings where required.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure agreed targets and deadlines are achieved.
  • Identify potential programme delays and work with the project team to implement appropriate solutions.
  • Monitor overall project progress and ensure key deadlines and milestones are achieved.
  • Attend site and project meetings and communicate any issues affecting the day‑to‑day running of the project.
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the site.
  • Implement and maintain the company's Safety Management System.
  • Implement and maintain the company's Quality Management System.
  • Ensure all site personnel and subcontractors comply with relevant health & safety regulations, site procedures and company policies.
  • Report progress, site issues and resource requirements to the Project Manager.
  • Assist with inspections, snagging, quality control and the completion and handover of works.
Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience in a General Foreman, Site Manager or similar site management position within the construction industry.
  • Strong experience working on commercial construction projects.
  • Previous experience working for a Main Contractor is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage site operations, subcontractors and construction teams.
  • Strong practical and technical knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and site operations.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time‑management skills.
  • Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors effectively.
  • Ability to drive works on site and ensure programme targets are achieved.
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and as part of the wider project team.
  • Self‑motivated with a proactive, organised and hands‑on approach.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and quality requirements within the construction industry.
