Job summary

BaxterStorey is hiring a General Assistant in Ireland to support a busy kitchen operation. The role is part-time, 16 hours per week with occasional overtime for holidays. You’ll work evenings and weekends and must have reliable transport.

Qualifications

  • No formal education is required, catering/kitchen experience would be a plus.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation practices is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Dishwashing – Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using industrial dishwashers
  • Kitchen Cleanliness – Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas. Empty rubbish bins and ensure proper disposal of waste materials
  • Food Preparation – Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients and preparing sandwiches
  • Customer Service - provide excellent service by being attentive to guests’ needs at every point on their customer journey. Answering questions and addressing any concerns or issues in a friendly manner
  • Inventory Management – Assist in receiving, storing, and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients
  • Compliance with Health and safety – maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen ensuring equipment is in good working order.

Job description

Hours: 16 hours per week with occasional additional hours required to cover holidays

Working Pattern: Monday to Sunday, 2 days over 7, weekend work, evening shift occasionally required. Must have own transport as public transport is not available after the evening shift.

Salary: €14.2 per hour (enhanced rate available for Sunday €18.81)

Job Description
