Job summary

GMC Utilities Group in Wicklow is seeking an experienced Gas Fitter to join our team, delivering maintenance, metering and siteworks on the GNI contract. You will respond to emergencies and service domestic and commercial gas installations.

This role requires a full clean driving licence, gas industry experience, and current DGS/DGA and national craft certificates. We offer competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive standby package, with opportunities to grow within GMC.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to reports of gas leaks and assist emergency services as needed.
  • Restore gas to properties after maintenance and emergencies.
  • Receive and complete work using a mobile device.

The Role

GMC are currently looking for an experienced Gas Fitter to join our team on projects across Wicklow. The successful Gas Fitter will be working on the GNI maintenance contract, delivering ongoing metering, siteworks and customer/shipper related activities. The Gas Fitter will need to be available for emergency first‑response duties as per agreed rota. The package within GMC consists of €26.90p/hr plus a substantial stand‑by package.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance and reparation of gas network infrastructure in domestic and commercial premises.
  • Ensuring installations are in compliance with Irish gas safety standards.
  • Respond to reports of gas leaks and assist other emergency services in dealing with incidents where required.
  • Restore gas to properties following maintenance and emergency works.
  • Ability to receive and complete work using a mobile device.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies
  • Full clean driver’s licence essential.
  • Gas industry experience essential.
  • Hold a current DGS / DGA certificate.
  • Hold a national craft certificate in plumbing / pipe fitting / mechanical / electrical.
  • Confident, motivated and can work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work alongside other emergency services.
  • Time management abilities to meet targets.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
