Job summary

Carraig Donn in Swords, Co. Dublin, is seeking a Garment Technologist to lead fit sessions and drive technical packs through development to bulk production.

You will ensure consistent fit across private label collections, manage measurement charts, and collaborate with design and production teams to resolve technical issues. The role requires 3+ years of Garment Tech experience, strong knowledge of fitting, grading, and construction, and excellent communication across departments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of Garment Tech experience in Apparel industry is essential.
  • Good technical knowledge of garment fitting, grading, and construction.
  • The ability to effectively communicate across internal departments and external sources, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good knowledge of fabrics/yarns, sewing techniques and trims.
  • Ability to work in a structured and timely manner under pressure within a team environment across multiple seasons and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead fit sessions, focusing on enhancing garment quality, fit, comfort and functionality.
  • Creating detailed technical packs with specifications, garment construction guidelines, and measurement charts for production teams to follow, ensuring consistency and accuracy in garment construction.
  • Advising key measurement and construction detailing to design/development tech packs to facilitate the production of prototype samples.
  • Maintaining accurate product packages, setting up of initial prototype packs, fitting through all stages of development in collaboration with design and product development.
  • Own the technical development of products from initial proto through to bulk production, including fitting, measurement and grading approval, size-set review, construction approval and resolution of technical issues throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Updating ensuring tech packs are adequately maintained with comprehensive fit comments and construction comments and providing technical instructions to the supply base.
  • Liaising with suppliers and factories during the production to ensure technical issues are supported with clear and timely decisions to ensure shipment dates are achieved.
  • Maintain a technical sample tracker to track approval processes of products.
  • Carrying out wash and wear trials on new qualities, where needed and approving wash care instructions (you could remove this part as retail support approve care labels).

Garment Technologist role:

You will act as the technical authority throughout the product development and production process, providing expert guidance on fit, garment construction, measurements, materials, manufacturing methods and quality standards, and making timely technical decisions to resolve issues and maintain product integrity.

Technical expertise in apparel industry is essential for success in this role, as well as attention to detail and strong communication skills to manage relationships across various departments.

The Garment Technologist will be responsible for ensuring a consistent fit across our private label collections. They will strive to enhance and continuously evaluate the quality of our product and improve garment fit. This role will based in the Dublin area. The hours for this position is 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities include:

Experience required for this Garment Technologist role:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of Garment Tech experience in Apparel industry is essential

  • High levels of organisation required to manage and maintain multiple season, samples and work across different brands and buying teams.
