In partnership with our client, Cpl Healthcare are currently recruiting a full time agency Healthcare Assistant for a Children's Intellectual Disability Service in Waterford

Requirements:

  • QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent
  • 100 hours of recent clinical work experience in Ireland
  • Must be living and eligible to work in Ireland
  • Previous experience dealing with children with Intellectual Disabilities
  • Please note Cpl Healthcare does not support visas for overseas candidates

Details of Role:

  • Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (37.5 hours per week)
  • Duration of role is 3 months

Description of Service:

The Centre primarily supports families of children with multiple complex needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Medical complexities and Intellectual Disabilities. Children age from 18 months to 18 years across the different services provided; Early Intervention, Specialised Toddler/Playgroups and After-school.

The main function of the Centre is to empower children with a broad range of difficulties and their families to develop to their full potential in a safe, nurturing and educational environment. Programmes and play based activities comprise the daily schedule at the Centre to further enhance language and communication skills, social skills such as play, turn-taking and sharing, joint attention and engagement, daily living skills such as toileting, dressing/undressing, brushing teeth/hair and participating in a social environment with peers to further develop holistically.

The role of the Care Assistant is to provide and implement a learning environment through play based activities in collaboration with a Total Communication Approach, knowledge based evidence of developmental goals and learning strategies.
