Complete Care Hospital for Pets in Nova Scotia is seeking an experienced RVT for maternity leave coverage, with potential to join the team long-term. Responsibilities include venipuncture, catheterization, sample collection, surgical assistance, and radiography.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong client communication, teamwork, and a desire to grow with a close-knit, supportive staff. Mondays–Fridays with some scheduling flexibility, competitive pay, and benefits.

Qualifications

• At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience as an RVT.
• Ability to perform multiple veterinary technician tasks including blood draws, catheter placement, sample collection, surgical prep/assistance, radiographs, and more.
• Strong communication to enhance client experience.
• Learning mindset and detail-oriented, organized approach.
• Positive, friendly demeanor and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, catheter placement, urine/stool sample collection.
• Provide surgical preparation and assistance as needed.
• Take digital whole body and dental radiographs.
• Support clinicians and maintain high standards of patient care.
• Communicate clearly with clients about treatment plans and care.

Qualifications

• At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience previously working as an RVT
• The desire to perform a multitude of veterinary technician tasks including blood draws, catheter placement, obtaining urine/stool samples, surgical preparation/assistance, digital whole body and dental radiographs and MORE!
• Outstanding communication skills to enhance the client’s experience with their pet’s care
• A learning mindset as it is never too late to learn new skills or to improve the ones you already have
• Attention to detail and a high degree of organization
• A positive, friendly demeanor is a MUST!
• Leadership skills with a desire to collaborate with others and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment are definite assets.

About Us

We are proud to be an independently owned three doctor mixed animal practice, predominantly consisting of a small animal clientele with a limited equine clientele. We have many of the amenities that larger facilities have, are fully computerized in every exam room and are mostly paperless using Avimark and CoVet recordings for medical record keeping. We are also excited about our newly renovated facility offering six exam rooms! You would be joining a large staff consisting of 3 other technicians, 4 veterinary assistants, 3 CSR’s and 1 kennel assistant so you will be well supported.We offer a small hometown feel with an exceptional team that will go the extra mile for the doctors, our patients, and the clients. Hours & Availability

The Complete Care Hospital for Pets team provides excellent care for pets - and their humans - from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm Mondays and Wednesdays, from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Fridays. We are closed on the weekends with no on call coverage needed and support a four-day work week. Our ideal candidate would be available for some scheduling in the evenings.

Pay & Benefits

Your superior technical skills and professionalism will be rewarded with a competitive pay ranging from $25 - $30 per hour, depending upon experience and degree of leadership capabilities. In addition to competitive pay, we offer weekly and monthly bonuses for meeting goals.
