Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Fraud Prevention Analyst to join our global team. The role focuses on detecting, preventing, and reporting fraudulent activity across client platforms, using advanced analytics and cross-functional collaboration.

You will review login anomalies, investigate transactions, correlating data from multiple systems, and communicate findings to the fraud team to strengthen controls. A strong analytical mindset and familiarity with fraud tools are essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to work with complex data.
  • Experience with fraud detection tools and analytics.
  • Knowledge of malware variants and attack vectors.
  • Experience in phone interviewing to identify impersonators and scams.
  • Understanding of authentication processes, tools and internet security.
  • Ability to identify fraudulent accounts and take action in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with common browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
  • Understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN/ISP/IP) and security policies.

Responsibilities

  • Detect and prevent fraud using advanced data analysis in client-facing apps.
  • Review login anomalies and suspicious transactions to identify policy violations.
  • Analyze datasets from multiple sources to identify potentially fraudulent activity.
  • Review and authenticate alerts from internal fraud detection systems; escalate as needed.
  • Work independently within fraud research and mitigation framework to address identity theft and fraud risks.
  • Document analyses and consult cross‑functional departments to validate suspicious activity.
  • Maintain data confidentiality and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Communicate findings and trends to the fraud team and management.
