Job description

Location: Dublin, Ireland (on‑site/hybrid)

Employment type: Permanent

Compensation: Highly competitive base + performance bonus + benefits

A leading technology-driven trading firm is hiring an FPGA Engineer to join its Dublin team. The firm builds high‑performance systems that combine hardware and software to process large volumes of data in real time.

The ideal candidate has solid digital design experience and is comfortable taking features from concept through simulation, implementation and bring‑up. Backgrounds from trading tech, semiconductor, networking, data‑centre hardware, telecoms or other performance‑critical engineering environments are all welcome.

What you'll do
  • Design and develop FPGA-based solutions for data processing, connectivity and acceleration.
  • Work across the full flow: requirements, architecture, RTL design, simulation, synthesis, timing and hardware bring‑up.
  • Integrate FPGA designs with CPUs, GPUs, NICs and storage in Linux-based systems.
  • Build testbenches, validation flows and tooling to improve reliability and speed of delivery.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, researchers and business stakeholders to turn complex problems into robust systems.
What you'll bring
  • Strong experience in RTL design (Verilog and/or VHDL); SystemVerilog exposure is a plus.
  • Good understanding of digital logic, pipelining, clocking and resource‑efficient design.
  • Hands‑on work with mainstream FPGA tools (Xilinx/AMD or Intel/Altera) and real hardware.
  • Familiarity with at least some of: Ethernet, PCIe, high‑speed serial links, memory interfaces and basic board‑level debugging.
  • Scripting or software skills (e.g., Python, C/C++) for testing, automation and integration.
  • A practical mindset focused on clean design, testability and measurable results.
Why this role
  • Work on impactful, real‑time systems at scale.
  • High autonomy, clear ownership and fast iteration from idea to production.
  • Collaborative culture with strong engineers from diverse technical backgrounds.
  • Competitive total compensation and benefits in a growing Dublin technology hub.

Previous experience in financial services is not essential. Engineers from big‑tech, hardware vendors, networking, data‑centre or other performance‑focused environments are encouraged to apply.
