Job summary

Primark in Ireland is seeking an FP&A Manager to lead budgeting and forecasting for net product margin and working capital. You will partner with senior leaders to drive efficiency and value creation in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with 5+ years post qualified experience in a commercial finance focused role.
  • Previous experience in product margin, supply chain and/or working capital in the retail industry.
  • High level of commercial and financial acumen with the ability to formulate and clearly communicate analysis, insight and recommendations for future strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts for areas within net product margin and working capital.
  • Lead a team of analysts within a GBS model or regional office.
  • Analyse trends, identify opportunities for optimisation, and track KPIs.
  • Partner with functional leaders to understand financial performance and support decision-making.
  • Prepare and present insightful reports and dashboards to senior leadership highlighting costs and performance trends.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and macro insights to anticipate risks and opportunities.

Working with leadership and key stakeholders, the FP&A Manager is responsible for leading the financial planning and analysis activities across areas within Net Product Margin & Working Capital. This involves annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, cost analysis, and partnering with functional leaders to drive efficiency and achieve strategic objectives. A successful candidate will draw on knowledge of product margin and working capital dynamics within the retail industry.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts for areas within net product margin and working capital. This could include, but is not limited to, gross margin, markdowns, stock loss, freight & transport costs, inventory & trade payables. These areas will be covered by 2 managers with the split of work to be decided depending on each person’s experience
  • Working within a GBS model, lead a team of analysts based in our Primark Mumbai office.
  • Analyse trends, identify opportunities for optimisation, and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Partner with functional leaders to understand their financial performance, provide insights, and support decision-making.
  • Prepare and present insightful reports and dashboards to senior leadership, highlighting costs, performance trends, and key business insights across functions
  • Stay informed of industry trends and global macro insights to be able to anticipate risks and opportunities facing the business
Collaborate
  • Prioritise key activities and drive delivery through collaboration across multiple teams in the business, both within and outside of the FP&A space.
  • Build effective communication channels with business leaders and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the wider FP&A, commercial finance, strategic finance, central planning and supply chain teams to ensure alignment to group strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and relevant stakeholders to assess business performance and provide direction on enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Qualified accountant with 5+ years post qualified experience in a commercial finance focused role
  • Previous experience in the areas of product margin, supply chain and/or working capital in the retail industry
  • High level of commercial and financial acumen with the ability to formulate and clearly communicate analysis, insight and recommendations for future strategies
  • Has worked in a fast-paced finance team
  • Action orientated with the ability to identify and drive opportunities for growth, working cross functionally, not just identifying a problem or solution but driving the change
  • Strong work ethic and very comfortable working in an ‘unstructured’, consultative setting, with a focus on value creation
Technical & Behavioural Competencies
  • Ability to partner with the business across all levels of the organisation, supporting the development of strategy, delivery and reporting of results.
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to structure and present a compelling story, bringing stakeholders on the ‘journey’.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to quickly assimilate information, assess options and communicate these clearly.
  • Ability to see the bigger picture in the context of business growth, ensuring that all activities are commercially orientated first and foremost.
  • Strong organisational, planning and delegation skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables within deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to be comfortable in an agile role.
  • Is a clear strategic thinker and very comfortable working in this setting.
  • Ability to formulate own opinions through financial analysis and multiple source insights which supports decision making and drives outcomes.
  • Influences and empowers others to think creatively ensuring that processes are designed to optimise efficiency and value
