Job description

Our client, a well-established construction company based in Tipperary, is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Finance Director to join their leadership team. The company currently delivers 200+ residential units per annum and has ambitious plans for continued, sustainable growth.

This is a pivotal role for an accomplished accountant with a strong background in the Irish construction sector who wants to play a key part in driving the company’s financial and strategic direction over the next decade.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all financial operations of the business, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting.
  • Provide strategic insight and commercial guidance to the Managing Director and senior leadership team.
  • Manage and mentor a small, capable finance team responsible for the day-to-day financial operations.
  • Develop and implement financial systems, controls, and processes to support business growth.
  • Partner closely with project managers and operations to ensure accurate project costing, profitability analysis, and financial discipline.
  • Oversee relationships with banks, auditors, tax advisors, and key external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to business planning, investment appraisal, and funding decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies across the finance function.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role within the Irish construction industry – residential development experience highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial and strategic mindset with the ability to influence key decisions.
  • Confident, assertive leader with the ability to manage and develop a small finance team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Hands-on approach with the willingness to be office-based full-time in Tipperary.
