Job summary

EM3 is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the finance function for its international business. Based in Limerick, hybrid work with 2 days on-site, you will oversee planning, reporting, risk, and governance, partnering with senior leadership to drive growth and financial discipline.

You will shape strategy, implement robust controls, and deliver actionable insights to support decision-making and scalable operations across EM3’s global activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience-based requirements: 7–10 years of progressive finance experience with senior responsibilities.
  • Proven finance governance, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and business partnering experience.
  • Strong IFRS, statutory reporting, taxation and governance knowledge.
  • Experience building and leading finance teams across multi-entity or international setups.
  • Experience with ERP systems and BI reporting tools.
  • Exposure to consultancy/engineering/energy/project-based environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day finance operations and ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain a robust financial control framework across activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, systems and controls.
  • Support CFO in shaping financial strategy and long-term planning.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, tax and governance requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
  • Deliver detailed financial analysis and performance reporting to leadership.
  • Manage external audits and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.

Education

Position Summary

The Financial Controller will play a critical leadership role within the Finance function, providing strategic financial direction, governance, and operational control across EM3's international business. Reporting directly to the Director-Ireland, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of the organisation through effective financial planning, reporting, compliance, risk management, and business partnering.

This role requires a commercially minded finance professional capable of supporting rapid business growth, driving process improvement, enhancing financial visibility, and delivering actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. The Financial Controller will work closely with senior leadership, operational teams and international stakeholders to optimise financial performance and ensure robust financial controls across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day finance operations of the organisation.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain a robust financial control framework across all business activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and controls.
  • Support the CFO in shaping financial strategy and long-term business planning.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, taxation, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
  • Deliver detailed financial analysis and performance reporting to senior management and shareholders.
  • Monitor key financial metrics, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve business performance.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Manage external audits and liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Produce board-level financial reports and presentations.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
  • Lead the annual budgeting and strategic planning process.
  • Develop rolling forecasts and financial models to support decision-making.
  • Partner with business leaders to ensure effective cost management and resource allocation.
  • Evaluate business performance against budgets and strategic objectives.
  • Support investment appraisals, business cases, and capital expenditure decisions.
Business Partnering
  • Collaborate with operational, commercial, and project delivery teams to drive financial accountability.
  • Provide financial guidance and challenge to support profitable growth.
  • Assist project managers in reviewing project profitability, resource utilisation, and financial performance.
  • Support the development of business initiatives through financial evaluation and risk assessment.
  • Develop and maintain financial risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure effective internal controls and risk mitigation strategies are implemented.
  • Monitor contractual and commercial risks impacting financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and corporate policies.
  • Support ESG and sustainability reporting requirements where applicable.
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Drive optimisation of ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and business intelligence platforms.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives focused on automation, scalability, and process efficiency.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting solutions to improve business visibility and decision-making.
  • Promote data-driven financial management across the organisation.
Education & Professional Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Fully qualified professional accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
  • Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
  • Additional qualifications in Financial Management, Corporate Finance, Risk Management, or Business Analytics.
  • Certification in ERP, Business Intelligence, or Process Improvement methodologies.

Salary Range: €79,545 – 97,221
