Financial Accountant
We're looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team and play a key role in powering the numbers behind our ambitious growth. This is an opportunity to work with one of the largest Japanese PLCs. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll be right at the heart of our operations - delivering critical insights, driving compliance, and helping us scale smarter. This is a superb opportunity to gain exposure to cross functional collaboration, working closely with legal, commercial, software engineering and product. This will assist any ambitious accountant to gain skills for future career development.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role will be responsible for providing support on the following:
- Drive Month-End Close: Lead the month-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis
- Engage in Global Reporting: Take ownership of group-level reporting by uploading and consolidating financials for our parent company, SoftBank — offering exposure to global corporate governance and reporting frameworks
- Take Ownership of Reconciliations: Manage and review complex balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining financial integrity and sharpening your technical accounting skills with real-world applications
- Deliver Strategic Financial Insights: Prepare management reports that go beyond the numbers — driving business value through deep analysis of key metrics, trends, and variances. Your voice will influence business direction
- Master Compliance & Tax: Oversee statutory reporting and end-to-end tax compliance (VAT, VIES, MOSS, RTD), giving you hands-on experience with both domestic and cross-border tax obligations — a key growth area in finance careers
- Lead Audit Engagements: Be the go-to person for both external and internal audits (including with SoftBank), gaining insight into risk management and compliance at an international level
- Champion Process Automation: Help modernize the finance function by identifying automation opportunities and embedding best practices, reducing manual work and increasing strategic value. Where can AI assist?
- Own Cash Flow Forecasting: Play a central role in safeguarding liquidity by monitoring daily cash activity and delivering forecasts that support informed operational and investment planning

Requirements
Skills & Knowledge Required
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a solid technical foundation and commercial awareness
2+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) in a dynamic finance environment, ideally within a fast-paced or international business
Proven hands-on experience with month-end close processes, financial reporting, or audit preparation
Strong financial acumen with the ability to scrutinise, sense-check, and validate complex financial data with confidence
