One of our large Energy clients is currently looking for a qualified accountant to join their team

Role Purpose

As Financial Accountant, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are appropriately recorded in a timely and accurate manner, in order to achieve financial close to strict deadlines. Your key responsibility will be completing the monthly accounting process alongside the analysis and reconciliation of Energy’s balance sheet. You will also play a key role in process improvement and change management with a major emphasis on enhancing internal controls that will support the business’ financial reporting requirements. Your key focus will be on continuous improvement, while delivering a high quality, reliable monthly financial close.

Key accountabilities

• Support the Finance Manager in the preparation and review of financial accounting information for the consolidated financial reporting statements in order to provide management with accurate, reliable and timely financial information.
• Process transformation: reviewing and enhancing processes in order to streamline financial reporting and improve controls.
• Managing the monthly accounts close process and ensuring that appropriate controls are in place, monitored and any exceptions actioned.
• Partnering with the commercial finance team to add value and insight and support commercial decision making.
• Working with other members of the financial control team to ensure compliance with the accounting and disclosure requirements.
• Continuously monitor and strengthen our internal accounting control process.
• Preparation of all reports to meet business, group and regulatory requirements.
• Drive the Energy Finance Transformation journey, with the ability to step back and analyse the process with a view to driving efficiencies.
• Providing input into Finance related projects, as required.
• Partnering with the operations team to enhance insight into our revenue balances.
• Liaising with auditors as required.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with management and liaise with senior colleagues on reporting requirements from all areas of the business.
