Job summary

The National Gallery of Ireland is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the Finance department on a permanent basis. The role supports the Financial Reporting Manager, assists in monthly management accounts and related financial duties.

Responsibilities include month-end close activities, bank reconciliations, journal entries, audits, statutory reporting, PSWT returns, and supplier payments. A proven accounting background and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Accounting Technician qualification or part qualified accountant.
• 2+ years hands-on experience in accounts Assistant/Junior Accountant roles.
• Proven experience with bank and balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly management accounts preparation.
• Perform month-end close activities including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Support annual audit and respond to auditor queries.
• Ensure statutory reporting obligations are met and PSWT returns prepared.
• Review supplier payments before submission to the bank and document processes.
