Job summary

Clark Recruitment seeks a practical Water Pump Service Technician for a field-based role across domestic, agricultural, commercial, and industrial environments in Ireland. You will service, repair, maintain and install water and wastewater systems, including pumps, treatment units and associated equipment.

The role involves occasional urgent call-outs, working independently with customers, and ongoing training to develop specialist pumping skills.

Qualifications

• Direct water-pump experience is not essential.
• Ideal candidates have a strong practical or mechanical background with hands-on problem solving.
• Around 2 years' practical experience in a relevant environment preferred.
• Full pump experience is not required; training will be provided.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Full clean Irish driving licence.
• Current Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates, or willingness to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, maintain and install water and wastewater systems and equipment.
• Attend urgent customer call-outs and prioritise work.
• Carry out fault-finding and effective repairs.
• Complete scheduled, preventative and reactive maintenance.

Job description

Location: Kildare / Field-Based
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:30pm
On-Call: Approximately every 4th/5th weekend and Bank Holiday

The Role

We are looking for a practical, reliable and technically minded Water Pump Service Technician to join an established and growing business.

This is a varied, hands-on field-based role involving the servicing, repair, maintenance, fault-finding and installation of water and wastewater pumping and treatment systems across domestic, agricultural, commercial and industrial environments.

No two days will be the same. You could be attending an urgent call-out at a dairy farm, servicing a domestic system, installing a new system for a commercial customer or working alongside a team on a larger site.

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working independently, dealing directly with customers, solving problems in the field and adapting to changing priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Service, repair, maintain and install a range of water and wastewater systems and equipment.

Work on well pumps, water pressure boosting systems, VSDs, water treatment systems, sewage pumping and treatment systems and rainwater harvesting systems.

Carry out fault-finding and effective repairs.

Complete scheduled, preventative and reactive maintenance.

Install water pipework and associated equipment.

Attend urgent customer call-outs and prioritise work according to customer requirements.

Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.

Identify additional repair and maintenance requirements.

Communicate professionally with customers and explain completed works where required.

Work safely and in accordance with relevant Health & Safety requirements.

Carry out workshop-based servicing and repairs when required.

Participate in training and ongoing technical development.

Participate in an out-of-hours emergency call‑out rota approximately every 4th/5th weekend and on Bank Holidays.

What We're Looking For

Direct water-pump experience is not essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong practical or mechanical background who are used to working with their hands, using tools and solving problems.

Suitable backgrounds could include:

Factory or industrial maintenance.

Agricultural or farming environments, particularly dairy.

Mechanical maintenance.

Electrical maintenance or partially qualified electrical backgrounds.

Building or construction.

Plumbing.

Agricultural machinery or plant.

Other hands‑on technical/service environments.

Ideally, you will have around 2 years' practical experience in a relevant environment. Full pump experience is not required, as training will be provided.

Fault‑finding ability is particularly important. Technical knowledge can be trained, but the ability to intuitively diagnose problems and work out how to fix them is highly valued.

Fluent written and spoken English.

Full clean Irish driving licence.

Practical, hands‑on experience using tools and working with equipment.

Strong mechanical aptitude.

Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Flexibility to work across different customer environments.

Current Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates, or willingness/ability to obtain these as required.
