Fellowship in Endometriosis Management and Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery

Cork University Maternity Hospital is pleased to announce a call for interest in its two-year Fellowship in Endometriosis Management and Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery.

Duration and location

The Fellowship programme will be delivered over two years across Ireland’s two Supra-Regional Endometriosis Centres at Tallaght University Hospital and Cork University Maternity Hospital. The Fellow will train for one year in each Supra-Regional Centre.

Commencement date

The Fellowship will commence in July 2026, with the starting location of each successful candidate to be decided at a later date.

Eligibility

Trainees in Year 4/5 of SpR training and gynaecologists up to two years post awarding of CSCST may apply.

Funding and certification

This Fellowship is funded by the National Womens and Infants Health Programme (NWIHP) as part of the National Endometriosis Framework and is certified by the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Fellowship details

The Fellowship will provide training in the comprehensive assessment and management of women with endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, including multidisciplinary assessment and management. The Fellow will gain experience in complex pelvic surgery, including treatment of superficial and deeply-infiltrating endometriosis as well as complex benign gynaecological conditions. The Fellow will gain an introduction to robot-assisted gynaecological surgery, as well as being mentored in advanced hysteroscopic surgical techniques.

The Fellowship programme will be delivered in Ireland’s two Supra-Regional Endometriosis Centres at Tallaght University Hospital and Cork University Maternity Hospital. The Fellow will train in each Endometriosis Centre for a duration of one year and will have a named consultant trainer/educational supervisor. The Fellowship programme will be under the direction of the National Specialty Director(s) in the IOG. The trainee will be required to keep their ePortfolio up to date and maintained throughout their fellowship training.
