Job summary

Hollybank Trustees Ltd in Kilkenny is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain mechanical plant and support a busy site. The role involves shift-based work, 42 hours weekly, liaising with electricians and technicians, and ensuring safety and documentation standards are met.

You will respond to service requests, support energy efficiency initiatives, and ensure subcontractors comply with permit-to-work rules, creating a professional and safe environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as qualified tradesman.
• Experience in a similar working environment.
• Experience with AHUs, FCUs, water pumps, BMS, sprinkler systems.
• Experience in a professional team-based office environment.
• Experience communicating with clients/customers and delivering excellent service.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Strong administrative, coordination and attention to detail skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily maintenance of all mechanical equipment on-site.
• Report problems to Facilities Engineer and coordinate with technicians.
• Maintain non-mechanical equipment where possible and report issues.
• Ensure all maintenance documentation is properly filed and accessible.
• Respond to service calls from the facilities help desk promptly.
• Manage subcontractors and ensure safety and permits-to-work procedures.
• Oversee daily helpdesk requests from intake to completion.
• Conduct regular inspections and record results in maintenance folders.
• Contribute to energy efficiency targets and energy reduction recommendations.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Facilities Technician to join our team based in Kilkenny.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Sunday, various shifts, 42 hours weekly.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Effective daily maintenance of all Mechanical equipment on-site.
• Reporting of existing or potential problems with equipment to Facilities Engineer.
• Working with Electrical/Multiskilled Technicians to effectively manage / maintain multi-disciplinary equipment.
• Effective maintenance of non-Mechanical equipment (where possible)
• Reporting of existing or potential problems with non-mechanical equipment to Facilities Engineer
• Ensure all facilities–related maintenance documentation is completed properly, filed and accessible as required.
• Provide information about facilities as required/authorised.
• Respond to service calls logged with the facilities help desk and seek a speedy resolution.
• Professional greeting to clients and staff to generate a professional and welcoming atmosphere.
• Ensure all subcontractors on-site are working within the agreed permit-to-work system, understand reported problems and fully conduct service visit or callout works and apply all safety precautions.
• Reporting subcontractors present to Facilities Engineer and report outcome of service visits / callouts.
• Effective management of daily helpdesk requests from receipt of request to completion and sign-off of task
• Ensure work requests are carried out on time and to a satisfactory level
• Working effectively with other Operations functions to fully complete client requests
• Use of email and spreadsheets/logbooks to receive, understand and sign-off works orders and record information as agreed with the Facilities Engineer.
• To conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, six-monthly and annual inspections of equipment and record in local maintenance folders.
• To report faults, errors, miss-readings etc found for further testing.
• Adopt culture and awareness of Salesforce site sustainability and energy efficiency targets/goals
• Perform site tasks to ensure plant is ran in its most efficient manner
• Provide energy reduction recommendations on plant operations relevant to role
• Enforce a zero tolerance to unsafe working practices to target a goal zero accident rate.

Qualifications and experience

• 5+ years as qualified Tradesmen
• Experienced working in similar working environment
• Air Handling Units, Fan Coil Units, Water Circulating Pumps,BMS,Sprinkler Systems
• Experience of working in a professional team-based office environment
• Experience of communicating with Clients/Customers and providing excellent customer service
• Strong knowledge of Mechanical systems
• Strong administrative, coordination and attention to detail skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven team player
• Flexibility and availability to work overtime
