Job summary

Tigers Childcare is seeking a dedicated Facilities & Maintenance Operative to join our Ireland-wide network of centres. You will keep buildings, grounds and equipment safe, functional and welcoming for children, families, and staff.

You will deliver reactive and planned maintenance across multiple locations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety and regulatory compliance, while supporting centre teams with practical, reliable problem-solving and proactive improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a maintenance or facilities role with strong general DIY and repair skills.
• Full clean driver's licence and access to own transport (van preferred).
• Good working knowledge of Health & Safety obligations.
• Confidence using mobile systems or apps to log and track work.

Responsibilities

• Deliver reactive and planned maintenance across multiple Tigers Childcare locations to support safe, high-quality service delivery.
• Ensure buildings, grounds, equipment, and outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard and in line with regulatory requirements.
• Identify, report, and where appropriate resolve hazards to protect the health, safety, and welfare of children, colleagues, and visitors.
• Support compliance with Health & Safety, fire safety, and safeguarding standards across all services.
• Provide practical, responsive support to centre teams, enabling them to focus on delivering excellent childcare.
• Contribute to a culture of safety, professionalism, and pride in our environments.

How You'll Make an Impact

What You'll Need to Succeed

Must-Haves

• Proven experience in a maintenance or facilities role with strong general DIY and repair skills.
• Full clean driver's licence and access to own transport (van preferred).
• A good working knowledge of Health & Safety obligations.
• Confidence using mobile systems or apps to log and track work.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple sites.
• A reliable, flexible, and solution-focused approach to work.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in a childcare, school, or care environment.
• Familiarity with Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) or maintenance management systems.
• Experience coordinating external contractors.
• Knowledge of fire safety or statutory building compliance.
