Job summary

Village Vets Coolock is seeking a veterinarian with 3+ years in small animal practice to join our established team. You will diagnose, treat and manage cases with thorough record keeping and clear client communication.

You will provide consultations, routine surgery and after‑hours support as part of a collaborative clinic network near Dublin, with opportunities for CPD and professional development within Village Vets.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in small animal practice.
  • Confident in consultations and routine surgery.
  • Proactive approach to case management and client service.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, treat, and care for patients to high standards.
  • Investigate and manage cases thoroughly before referral.
  • Take full responsibility for patient care and accurate records.
  • Prescribe and dispense medications; manage stock as needed.
  • Communicate estimates and treatment options to clients.
  • Deliver excellent client experience across channels.
  • Promote Pet Health Plans and Pet Insurance.
  • Collaborate with the clinic team and support training.
  • Ensure billing accuracy and clinic presentation.

Location: Village Vets Coolock

Reports to: Lead Vet

Schedule: 5 day week, 1 in 3 Saturdays, 1 in 12 Sundays in Ashbourne.

Salary: €44,000 - €64,000 annually, depending on experience.

About the Role
  • Diagnose, treat, and care for patients to the high standards upheld by Village Vets.
  • Investigate and manage cases thoroughly within the practice before referral, based on patient needs.
  • Take full responsibility for patient care, including effective case handover and appropriate after‑hours or referral care.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records.
  • Prescribe and dispense medications safely and correctly, supporting stock management as needed.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, providing estimates and treatment options to support informed decision‑making.
  • Deliver an outstanding client experience across all communication channels.
  • Promote Pet Health Plans and Pet Insurance to support optimal patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with the clinic team to ensure compassionate, high‑quality care.
  • Provide veterinary training and guidance to support best practice across the team.
  • Support the daily running and presentation of the clinic to Village Vets’ standards.
  • Ensure all billing is accurate and correctly processed.
