Job summary

Global Professional Consultants seeks an Estimator for their Longford office to own pricing and tendering for bespoke joinery and fit‑out packages. You will produce accurate, well-documented estimates and contribute to converting tenders into profitable projects.

The role requires reading architectural drawings, analyzing specifications, and coordinating with suppliers and clients to secure best value. Joinery/fit-out background preferred, with a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years estimating experience within joinery, fit-out or construction.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specs.
• Commercially astute with strong attention to cost detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Review tender docs, drawings and specs to prepare material and labour take-offs.
• Price joinery and fit-out packages including manufacturing, finishes and installation.
• Obtain supplier quotes and negotiate best value.
• Prepare tenders, BOQ and cost breakdowns to deadlines.
• Attend pre-tender/site meetings with clients and main contractors.
• Identify value engineering opportunities to improve competitiveness.
• Hand over awarded projects to delivery teams with scope and exclusions.
• Assist with pricing variations on live projects.
• Maintain pricing database and supplier rates.

Job description

A leading contractor is looking for an Estimator to join their team in their Longford office. The successful candidate will take ownership of the pricing and tendering function, producing accurate, competitive and well-documented estimates for bespoke joinery and fit-out packages. The role is central to securing profitable work and supports the transition of projects from tender stage to the project delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender documentation, architectural drawings and specifications to prepare detailed material and labour take-offs.
• Price bespoke joinery and fit-out packages, including manufacture, finishes, ironmongery, delivery and installation.
• Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating to secure best value.
• Prepare and submit tenders, bills of quantities and cost breakdowns within deadlines.
• Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits and post-tender clarification meetings with clients and main contractors.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions to improve competitiveness.
• Hand over secured projects to the project co-ordinator and workshop team, including scope, allowances and key exclusions.
• Assist with pricing variations and additional works on live projects.
• Maintain and develop the company pricing database, supplier rates and estimating records.
• Track tender outcomes and provide feedback to management on win rates and market pricing.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years estimating experience within joinery, fit-out or construction (joinery/fit-out strongly preferred).
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
• Sound knowledge of joinery materials, manufacturing processes and installation methods.
• Experience with estimating/take-off software (e.g. Project Pak) is an advantage.
• Commercially astute with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to manage multiple tenders concurrently and work to strict deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and comfortable dealing with clients, main contractors and suppliers.
• Trade background in carpentry and joinery, or a qualification in quantity surveying/construction economics.
• Experience pricing for main contractors on commercial fit-out projects.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and cutting-list/production software
