Job summary

Ithemba Recruitment- Sourcing Top Talent is seeking a Safety Supervisor to ensure the safety of a private estate and staff. You will lead a small team, implement safety policies, and coordinate with external contractors and inspectors to maintain compliant safety systems.

The role requires strong leadership, English proficiency, and hands-on experience with safety management and emergency response. On-call duties and flexible hours are expected as part of operations.

Qualifications

• Must have personnel management skills and can operate as a team player.
• Able to work under pressure and lead staff.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentational skills to build relationships with estate heads, contractors and ownership team.
• Able to problem-solve, interpret complex issues and motivate others.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and other industry standard computer programs.
• Able to organise and prioritise workload.
• Experience overseeing a maintenance team and repairs/servicing to ensure safe operation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Health and Safety.
• Strong observation, reporting and remedial action skills.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Lead in implementing Safety Policies across the Company and Estate.
• Manage a team of up to 5 Safety Officers and assign duties.
• Provide safety briefing, induction and training for staff on arrival.
• Respond to fire alarms and medical emergencies and manage crises.
• Develop inspection programs and checklists for equipment servicing.
• Assist Estates on safety equipment maintenance and contractor oversight.
• Coordinate with CPPA and Royal Clinic Inspectors on safety matters.
• Prepare reporting templates for accidents/incidents and daily/weekly/monthly updates.
• On-call for emergencies and flexible hours as required.
