Job summary

AbbVie in Ireland seeks an experienced Electrician to perform planned and unplanned maintenance across implants manufacturing and packaging. You will join a multi-disciplinary team and focus on reliability improvements to deliver safe, first-class products to customers.

The role requires a National Craft Electrical qualification and 4+ years in a highly automated environment, with proficiency in PLC/HMI, robotics and Maximo. Shift work and vendor travel are required.

Qualifications

  • National Craft Senior Trades Electrical qualification is required.
  • 4+ years maintenance and troubleshooting in a highly automated pharmaceutical or similar regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical, instrumentation and automation systems incl. PLCs, HMI, robotics, pneumatics and SCADA.
  • Proficient with Maximo to manage maintenance requisitions and spare parts control.
  • Willingness to work a set shift pattern and travel to equipment vendors as required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to undertake other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned/unplanned maintenance on manufacturing, filling and packaging equipment using an RCM approach.
  • Troubleshoot and fault-find automated/batch manufacturing equipment; drive improvements via RCPS.
  • Support equipment projects from design to installation.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and ensure compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety requirements; training and regulations.
  • Assist with on-call duties; maintain training through eLMS.
  • Update Maximo for stock parts reordering; engage with vendors for non-stock parts.
  • Complete Work Orders with downtime data as part of Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP).

Job Description

An experienced pharmaceutical/medical device Electrician is required to carry out planned/unplanned maintenance across, Implants manufacturing and packaging. You will work as part of a strong multi-disciplined team of Fitters, Electricians, Process and Mechatronic Engineers. We have a strong emphasis on identifying opportunities for improvements and efficiency. Our primary objective is the consistent supply of safe, first class product to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned/unplanned maintenance on manufacturing, filling and packaging equipment, using a Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) approach.
  • Troubleshooting and fault finding of automatic, semi-automatic and batch manufacturing equipment, optimizing operation by Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) techniques. Ensure all equipment is repaired to the highest standards.
  • Support equipment projects from design to installation.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies and compliance to all site Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, training and regulations.
  • Assist with ‘On Call’ duties.
  • Maintain up to date Training through eLMS.
  • Prompt updates to Maximo system controlling reordering of stock parts.
  • Engage with vendors and parts suppliers to source non stock parts.
  • As part of Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP), take responsibity for completing Maximo to the highest standards, this includes completion of Work Orders for instances of downtime with all relevant data. Report to include time down, corrective action, preventative action going forward and parts used.
Qualifications
  • National Craft Senior Trades Electrical qualification is essential to be considered for this job.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ maintenance and troubleshooting experience in a highly automated pharmaceutical or similar regulated environment (Automation, Robotics, Packaging Operations, Automated Inspection)
  • Clear understanding and experience of maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical or mechanical, instrumentation and automation systems. This includes PLCs and HMI, pick-and-place robotics, control pneumatics, IPCs and PC-based tools, Vision systems, VSDs and Servo-drives, SCADA .
  • Proficient on Maximo to manage maintenance requisitions and spare parts control.
  • Willingness to work on set shift pattern and to travel to equipment vendors as required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Be flexible in this position and be prepared to undertake other work that may be assigned to you from time to time, which may be outside the area of your normal duties.
