Job summary

Amazon Data Services Ireland Limited is seeking an Environmental Program Manager to support environmental compliance across AWS facilities in Ireland. You will develop and monitor environmental policies, perform performance analyses, and prepare compliance plans for new technologies and permits, coordinating with internal teams and external agencies.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering/science, geology, geography, biology, chemistry or related field with 4+ years in environmental roles.
  • Experience in waste management, environmental compliance, auditing, permitting/reporting, EMS and ISO14001.
  • Broad knowledge of Irish environmental regulations and licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental due diligence reviews and permitting.
  • Integrate with design engineering, construction and operations for regional programs.
  • Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organisation.
  • Support regulatory agency interactions, permit/licence evaluation and processing.

  • Develop environmental metrics to measure and forecast performance.
  • Conduct environmental audits for continuous improvement.
  • Prioritise and manage multiple complex assignments concurrently.
  • Represent Amazon with governmental agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Build relationships to identify and manage risks early.
  • Assist in timely report submissions to governmental agencies.
  • Conduct thorough environmental incident investigations and develop corrective actions.

Key job responsibilities
  • Support the growth of the business through environmental due diligence reviews and permitting support;
  • Support regional strategic programmes by integrating with design engineering, construction, and operations;
  • Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organisation;
  • Support regulatory agency interactions, permit and licence evaluation and processing, and new process and technology introduction;
  • Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards;
  • Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor and forecast performance;
  • Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement;
  • Prioritise and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently;
  • Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company;
  • Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately;
  • Assist in time-critical report submissions to various governmental agencies;
  • Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in English
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering/science, geology, geography, biology, chemistry or related field of study with 4+ yrs of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, environmental consultant, environmental manager, program specialist, or program manager.
  • Experience in waste management, environmental compliance, environmental auditing, environmental permitting/reporting, environmental management systems and ISO14001 standards.
  • Broad knowledge of Irish environmental regulations and licensing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programmes including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organisation;
  • Experience managing multiple projects, prioritising, planning, and managing time effectively;
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills: solid relationship builder, influencing and negotiation skills, and ability to work collaboratively at multiple levels;
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and common project management tools.
