Eurofins Biomnis Ireland, a leading ISO 15189 accredited medical laboratory, is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Officer to join our Sandyford site in Dublin 18. You will be empowered to stop unsafe acts and lead changes in environmental protection, noise control, pollution control and waste management.

Qualifications

• Registration with the relevant professional body in Ireland (IOSH Membership).
• A Level 8 qualification in Environment, health and safety.
• 1–2 years experience in an Environmental H&S role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine visits and inspections to ensure compliance with Environmental legislation.
• Investigate complaints from customers and the public regarding environmental concerns or impact.
• Monitor levels of noise, air, land and water emissions from site.
• Schedule and chair Environmental Health & Safety Committee meetings.
• Assist managers in implementation of Environmental H&S policy & procedures.
• Coordinate Environmental Health & Safety training for all departments.
• Review, update and implement Environmental Health & Safety compliance.
• Investigate accidents at work and health & safety complaints; identify preventive actions.
• Lead the site risk assessment program.

Job Description

The Environmental Health & Safety Officer is empowered to stop any unsafe act that is observed. Proactive and enthusiastic to make the workplace safer and lead changes in environmental protection, noise exposure control, pollution control and waste management. Lead by example.

Environmental Tasks

• Carry out routine visits and inspections to ensure compliance with Environmental legislation
• Investigate complaints from customers and the general public in relation to environmental concerns or impact.
• Investigate outbreaks of infectious disease and prevent it spreading any further.
• Monitor agreed levels of noise, air, land and water emissions form site
• Schedule and Chair regular Environmental Health & Safety Committee meetings.
• Assist managers/team leaders in implementation of Environmental H&S policy & procedures.
• Provision of advice & support on Environmental H&S issues within their level of expertise.
• Co-ordination of Environmental Health & Safety training for all departments.
• Management of the Environmental Health & Safety documentation on QPulse and related Environmental H&S systems.
• Review, update and implement relevant Environmental Health & Safety compliance.

Health & Safety Tasks

• Investigate accidents at work and complaints about poor standards of health and safety, identifying immediate, preventive and continual improvement actions.
• Compile, analyse and prepare Health & Safety reports and/or presentations for Senior Management
• Lead the site risk assessment program
• Support line managers when requesting advice or guidance on specific H&S issues.
• Monitoring of the Biological & Chemical management programmes including COSHH assessments, Safety Data Sheets and Registers.
• Ensuring contractor management is maintained including induction and review of contractor risk assessments and method statements.
• Champion and Support occupational health within all departments.
• Oversee arrangements for emergency response including arrangements for fire, first aid and spill response.
• Carry out Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments and risk assessments where applicable and support departments in implementing any required corrective actions
• Co-ordinate and support the activities of Safety Representatives across departments
• Organise, support, and participate in Safety Committee meetings, ensuring actions are documented, communicated, and closed out in a timely manner
• Monitor Health & Safety performance metrics and contribute to Group Health & Safety reporting and ESG objectives

Qualifications

Education

• Registration with the relevant professional body and/or bodies in Ireland as a Health & Safety Officer(IOSH Membership).
• A Level 8 qualification in Environment, health and safety.

Experience

• 1-2 years experience in a Environmental H&S role.
