QEHS Manager

Mechanical Engineering Industry - Mayo

DesignBuild Search are working with a leading Mechanical Contractor in the West of Ireland who have an opening for a QEHS Manager based at the manufacturing site. Initially a one year contract based at the site with opportunity to continue. It will be based in the factory site office in Castlebar.

We are interested in talking to a committed and detail-oriented QEHS Manager to manage and

enhance the Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety management systems. This role

supports both manufacturing operations and site-based installation projects, with

occasional travel across the UK and Europe for inspections, audits, and compliance

oversight. You will play a key part in upholding ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001

certifications and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and compliance

throughout the business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve the integrated management

systems in line with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO

45001 (Health & Safety) standards.

  • Conduct and coordinate internal audits and support external certification

audits.

  • Identify, investigate, and manage non-conformances, ensuring appropriate

corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

  • Lead and promote continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing

and installation operations.

  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments at projects across the

UK and Europe to ensure compliance with QEHS standards.

  • Prepare detailed inspection and audit reports, including findings, action items,

and recommendations.

  • Deliver QEHS inductions and ongoing training for staff and subcontractors to

foster a strong safety and quality culture.

  • Monitor and report on QEHS KPIs, including incident rates, environmental

metrics, and audit performance.

  • Stay up to date with relevant European legislation and industry best practices

in quality, environmental, and health & safety management.

  • Act as a key point of contact for QEHS matters across the business, supporting

both the manufacturing facility and on-site installation teams.

  • Support the implementation of sustainability initiatives and ensure

compliance with environmental goals.

  • Champion safe working practices and lead by example across all locations and

levels of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant field (e.g. Quality Management,
  • Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a QEHS role preferably manufacturing, construction, or engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management

systems.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems
  • proactively.
  • Ability and legal right to travel freely between the UK and EU.
  • Holds a valid visa or permit that allows unrestricted travel across European

countries.

  • Willingness and availability to travel occasionally across UK and EU sites.
  • Full clean driving licence and valid passport required.
