Job summary

EMR Integrated Solutions is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead SCADA, PLC, and industrial automation teams across Ireland and the UK. You will shape engineering strategy, uphold technical standards, and drive delivery of mission-critical solutions while mentoring engineers and coordinating cross-functional projects.

The role requires a proven leadership track record, customer-facing excellence, and deep expertise in industrial networks, cybersecurity, and ISO 27001/IEC 62443.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline is required.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in SCADA, PLC, industrial communications, or related engineering environments.
• Proven experience managing engineering teams, including geographically and culturally diverse workforces.
• Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience delivering complex technical projects from concept through to implementation and support.
• Strong understanding of engineering design principles and industry standards.
• Good grasp of Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Demonstrate knowledge of some technologies i.e. SCADA, HMI, PLC, Microwave, DMR, WIFI, MPLS, GSM, DWDM and IP Networking.

• Allocate resources effectively based on skills and project needs.
• Hold engineering teams accountable for deadlines, budgets, quality standards, and performance targets.
• Prioritise and manage workloads across multiple projects.
• Define, implement, and maintain engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
• Provide technical oversight and sign-off for designs, tenders, and engineering solutions.
• Support pre-sales activities and collaborate on technology roadmaps.
• Ensure designs meet cybersecurity and compliance standards (ISO 27001, NIS, IEC 62443).
• Drive development of comprehensive technical documentation.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and keep teams technically up to date.

The successful candidate will oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring the successful design, delivery, and ongoing support of mission‑critical solutions across multiple industries. You will play a key role in shaping engineering strategy, maintaining technical standards, and supporting the continued growth of the business.

This role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, exceptional customer-facing skills, and extensive experience in SCADA, PLC, communications, and industrial automation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Hold engineering teams accountable for deadlines, budgets, quality standards, and performance targets.
• Prioritise and manage engineering workloads across multiple concurrent projects.

Technical Leadership

• Define, implement, and maintain engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
• Provide technical oversight and sign-off for designs, tenders, and engineering solutions.
• Support pre-sales activities and collaborate with the Sales team to develop and execute technology roadmaps.
• Ensure solutions are designed in accordance with industry-leading cybersecurity and compliance standards, including ISO 27001, NIS, and IEC 62443.
• Drive the development and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and ensure engineering teams remain technically up to date.
