Job summary

TensorX in Dublin is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and grow our product engineering team for a sovereign AI infrastructure platform. You will own hiring, coaching and delivery while staying close to code and architecture to earn trust with senior ICs.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on shaping the team, setting standards, and delivering secure, scalable features across backend, inference and platform teams. Hybrid work in Dublin offered.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in software engineering, including meaningful time as a senior IC on modern full‑stack or platform product work.
  • 2+ years leading engineers as a manager or equivalent (hiring, performance, coaching), ideally in a startup or scaleup.
  • Strong technical judgement across TypeScript/JavaScript product stacks (React/Next.js and Node.js) with enough depth to review design and challenge trade‑offs.
  • Proven experience building or tightening hiring loops and raising the talent bar.
  • Comfort defining process from first principles for a small team (Agile‑informed, not dogma‑driven).
  • Clear written and spoken communicator who can work directly with a CTO and senior engineers.
  • Experience shipping SaaS or developer‑facing products in production.

Responsibilities

  • People leadership - Hire, onboard, coach and performance‑manage engineers. Run 1:1s, set clear expectations and grow senior ICs without creating unnecessary hierarchy.
  • Hiring bar - Partner with the CTO to define what “good” looks like, design interview loops and build a diverse, high‑performing team as we add multiple full‑stack and related roles.
  • Delivery & process - Establish lightweight, reliable ways of working (planning, prioritisation, reviews, releases) that improve predictability without slowing a scaleup down.
  • Technical leadership - Guide architectural decisions on the product stack, review designs and PRs where it matters and keep quality, security and operability high.
  • Product partnership - Work with the CTO and product stakeholders to turn roadmap intent into sequenced engineering work, calling feasibility and trade‑offs early.
  • Cross‑team collaboration - Coordinate with Golang and Python backend, inference and platform teams so product work lands cleanly on shared infrastructure and APIs.
  • Operational excellence - Watch capacity, focus and engineering effectiveness; surface risks early and keep the team focused while still moving fast.
  • Culture & craft - Champion testing, code review, reliability and operational discipline, plus AI‑assisted development practices. Foster a culture where people can do their best work.

Job description

Overview

TensorX is a sovereign AI infrastructure platform headquartered in Dublin. We deploy and host open-source large language models on EU-sovereign infrastructure across Europe, providing private, zero-retention inference for regulated industries including finance, healthcare and government. Our platform offers drop-in OpenAI-compatible APIs, enabling developers and enterprises alike to adopt AI without compromising on data privacy, compliance or performance.

We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and grow our product engineering team. Reporting to the CTO, you will own hiring, coaching and delivery process for engineers building our customer-facing platform, while staying close enough to the code and architecture to earn trust with senior ICs. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-moving scaleup. You will set the bar for how we hire, how we work and how we ship, while staying close enough to the technology to lead senior engineers with credibility. You will help build a durable product organisation as we scale from a small team.

You will manage a growing product engineering team across multiple areas and partner closely with backend, inference and platform teams. Frontend and product delivery are central to this remit. Hands-on here means design and PR review plus occasional deep dives when it unblocks the team, not carrying a full sprint as the senior full-stack IC. We are an AI-native team and tools such as Claude Code, Codex and GrokBot are part of our standard workflow, not an experiment. We value leaders who can ship with their teams, raise standards and build clear, humane process without drowning a small org in ceremony.

Responsibilities
  • People leadership - Hire, onboard, coach and performance-manage engineers. Run 1:1s, set clear expectations and grow senior ICs without creating unnecessary hierarchy.
  • Hiring bar - Partner with the CTO to define what “good” looks like, design interview loops and build a diverse, high‑performing team as we add multiple full-stack and related roles.

Nice to Have
  • Exposure to Golang and Python, LLM/inference platforms and cloud‑native infrastructure (AWS, containers, CI/CD)

  • Familiarity with authentication, payments or multi‑tenant SaaS concerns
