Job summary

Abbott in Kilkenny is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Lead to drive advanced injection-moulding and reel-to-reel stamping solutions with global partners. You will own high-impact projects, lead tooling development, and ensure robust manufacturing processes while collaborating across the global engineering team.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Polymer/Mechanical Engineering (Master’s a plus) and 8+ years in tooling or high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of significant engineering or operational experience in injection moulding or high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience with die design fundamentals, tolerance analysis, and tool transfer methods.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and metrology fixture qualification experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and project-manage third-party manufacturers to deliver moulding, stamping, and forming solutions.
• Define requirements, evaluate technologies, and oversee specification, procurement, installation, and qualification of moulding and stamping equipment.
• Drive tooling activities at supplier sites to ensure flawless production start-up and scale-up.
• Lead design/specification, purchase, and qualification of mould tools, injection-moulding equipment, progressive dies, and related tooling.
• Collaborate with project teams and suppliers to meet project objectives and manage stakeholders.
• Act as SME/ITE for complex technical matters and report component-related issues to stakeholders.
• Develop metrology methods and ensure strong GD&T compliance.
