Job summary

Corlann – West Region seeks permanent full-time Support Workers (Care Assistant grade) for Caislean Adult Services in Oranmore and Galway City to help people with intellectual disabilities lead valued, independent lives.

Work is on a 14-day roster with 78 hours per fortnight, including weekends and sleep-ins. A QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable; a full clean manual driving licence is essential. Fluency in English and IT skills are required.

Qualifications

• A good general education is required.
• Qualifying in intellectual disability or a FETAC Level 5 is an advantage; QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable.
• Full clean manual Driving Licence is essential; Class D1 licence may be required.
• Experience with intellectual disability/autism/complex needs is desirable; induction provided.
• Fluency in English and IT skills are essential.

• Support people in all aspects of daily living and promote independence.
• Assist with personal care, meals, household tasks and related well-being.
• Encourage participation in ordinary life and community activities.
• Be flexible and work as part of a supportive team to meet service needs.
