Job summary

GlobalLogic is seeking an Embedded Software Systems Engineer to design, develop and debug software for ARM-based SoCs, running Linux, Zephyr and DSP. You will drive kernel components, device drivers, and upstreaming in a collaborative environment.

You will architect audio solutions using PipeWire/ALSA, integrating CODECs, speaker amps and digital microphones via I2S/TDM/SoundWire while optimizing power and performance across platforms.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years in embedded system development & debugging on ARM/MCU SoCs, preferably with Linux.
  • Proficient in C, C++, Python.
  • Experience with ARM Linux, Zephyr, DSP platforms.
  • Understand power and performance on embedded systems (ARM Linux & DSP).
  • Linux kernel or Zephyr device driver development and upstreaming.
  • Experience with multimedia frameworks (PipeWire, ALSA).
  • Experience with audio usage models (playback, recording, voice activation).
  • Familiar with audio buses: I2S, TDM, SoundWire.
  • Experience with audio peripherals (CODEC, speaker amp, digital microphone).
  • Contributes to open source projects (PipeWire, ALSA, Linux, Zephyr).
  • Understand open source community development and upstreaming workflows.
  • Experience in open source & product commercialization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and debug robust software for ARM-based and microcontroller SoCs running Linux, Zephyr and DSP.
  • Drive Linux kernel components and device drivers; debugging, testing, and upstreaming code changes.
  • Architect audio solutions using PipeWire and ALSA; integrate CODECs, amps, and digital mics via I2S/TDM/SoundWire.
  • Analyze and optimize power consumption and system performance on ARM Linux and DSP platforms.
  • Actively participate in open-source communities and facilitate feature transitions to commercial products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define audio usage models (playback, recording, voice activation).

Embedded Software Systems Engineer IRC300818

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will focus on developing and optimizing solutions across ARM-based and microcontroller SoC platforms. If you are an open-source enthusiast with a strong background in driver development and system optimization, this might be one for you. This role presents an opportunity for you to drive innovation in Linux and Zephyr architectures and shape the future of multimedia frameworks, specifically within the audio domain.

Requirements
  • 5 – 8 years experience in embedded system development & debugging on ARM or other embedded processor or MCU based SoCs preferably running Linux OS
  • Experienced in C, C++, Python programming languages
  • Experienced in developing and debugging software on ARM running Linux, Zephyr and DSP platforms
  • Understanding of power and performance considerations on embedded systems particularly with respect to ARM linux and DSP platforms
  • Experienced in Linux kernel and/or Zephyr architecture and device driver development, debugging, upstreaming
  • Experienced with multimedia framework especially audio focus ones such as Pipewire, and ALSA
  • Experienced in audio usage models including playback, recording, voice activation, voice call, audio context detection
  • Familiar with standard audio bus interfaces (I2S, TDM, SoundWire)
  • Familiar with driver development for audio mixed signal peripherals (CODEC, speaker amp, digital microphone)
  • Passionate contributor or maintainer of established open source projects such as PipeWire, ALSA, Linux, Zephyr, and etc.
  • Understand open source community development, engagement, and upstreaming workflow
  • Experienced in both open source & product commercialization process
Job responsibilities

  • Architect and implement audio solutions using frameworks such as PipeWire and ALSA. Manage the integration of audio peripherals (CODECs, speaker amps, digital microphones) via standard bus interfaces like I2S, TDM, and SoundWire.
  • Analyze and optimize power consumption and system performance, with a specific focus on ARM Linux and DSP platforms to ensure energy efficiency and responsiveness in embedded environments.
  • Actively participate in the open-source community by contributing to and maintaining projects like Linux, Zephyr, PipeWire, or ALSA. Facilitate the transition of features from open-source development into commercialized products.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define audio usage models, including playback, recording, voice activation, and context detection, ensuring seamless system integration.
