Job summary

Sisk Group seeks an Electrical Lead to deliver electrical systems for life sciences and technology projects in Cork. You will report to the Project Director and work with the MEP Lead to ensure design, installation, testing and commissioning meet safety, quality and regulatory standards.

You will lead the electrical team, oversee LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, lighting and life safety systems, drive risk management and coordinate with construction, commissioning and client teams to deliver

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrical delivery on Tier 1 construction or engineering projects.
  • Relevant health and safety training (e.g. Safe Pass, CSCS or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve electrical design documents, technical submittals and material selections.
  • Oversee FATs, SATs, commissioning and IST for electrical scope.
  • Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, process, instrumentation and BMS teams to ensure project integration.
  • Lead electrical coordination meetings and provide reporting on progress, risks and opportunities.

Job description

We have an opportunity for a Electrical Lead to join our Life Science team in Cork. Reporting to the Project Director and working in close partnership with the MEP Lead and Engineering Management team, the Electrical Lead is responsible for the overall delivery of electrical systems on life sciences and technology projects. The role provides technical and managerial leadership, ensuring that all electrical works are designed, installed, tested and commissioned to the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance. The Electrical Lead ensures project objectives for programme, budget and regulatory requirements are met, while driving collaboration between engineering, construction, commissioning and client teams. Leadership and Delivery
  • Lead the electrical team and oversee delivery of all electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, lighting, fire alarms and life safety systems
  • Ensure all electrical works meet programme, cost and quality objectives
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure effective delivery
  • Develop and implement strategies for electrical execution, resource allocation and planning
Technical and Compliance Oversight
  • Review and approve electrical design documents, technical submittals and material selections
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards and regulations (e.g. IEC, BS, IEEE, NFPA)
  • Oversee FATs, SATs, commissioning and integrated system testing (IST) for electrical scope
  • Support validation and handover processes with accurate documentation and system certification
Quality, Safety and Risk Management
  • Drive health, safety and environmental compliance across all electrical works
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control procedures for electrical systems
  • Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
Stakeholder and Team Coordination
  • Act as the primary point of contact for electrical scope with clients, consultants and regulatory bodies
  • Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, process, instrumentation and BMS teams to ensure project integration
  • Lead electrical coordination meetings and provide accurate reporting on progress, risks and opportunities to project leadership
Essentia"l
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, critical power systems and life safety systems
  • Proven leadership experience on large-scale construction or engineering projects
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex workloads
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels of delivery
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements for electrical works
Desirable
  • Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, data centre or advanced technology projects
  • Knowledge of commissioning and integrated system testing (IST) in regulated environments
  • Familiarity with BIM and digital project delivery tools
  • Commercial awareness including contract administration and cost control
Essential
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in leading electrical delivery on Tier 1 construction or engineering projects
  • Relevant health and safety training (e.g. Safe Pass, CSCS or equivalent)
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional membership (e.g. Engineers Ireland, IET, CIBSE)
  • Postgraduate qualification in project management or construction management
  • Vendor-specific training or certification in switchgear, UPS, or critical power systems
  • Training in GMP, cleanroom or other regulatory compliance relevant to life sciences and technology sectors
