Job summary

HEINEKEN Ireland invites applications for an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician based at Ladyswell Brewery, Cork. The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and improving brewery equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations. Strong mechanical maintenance capability is required.

The technician will support TPM, asset care and continuous improvement while using electrical and mechanical skills to maximise plant availability and minimise downtime across manufacturing areas.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or equivalent engineering discipline.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read technical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
• Computer literacy and experience with CMMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve brewery production, utilities, packaging and process equipment.
• Support TPM programme, asset care strategy and continuous improvement objectives while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Utilise electrical and mechanical skills to maximise equipment availability and minimise downtime.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks via PEMAC CMMS and maintain work records.
• Assist with calibration and statutory inspection programmes.
• Participate in shift handovers and support start-ups, changeovers, shutdowns, and commissioning activities.

About the role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving brewery production, utilities, packaging, and process equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role also requires strong mechanical maintenance capability. The role supports HEINEKEN's TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) programme, asset care strategy, and continuous improvement objectives while maintaining full compliance with safety, quality, food safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.

The technician will utilise both electrical and mechanical skills to maximise equipment availability, improve plant reliability, and minimise downtime across all manufacturing areas.

Key Accountabilities

Safety, Food Safety & Compliance

• Work in compliance with all HEINEKEN safety standards, Life Saving Rules, Permit to Work systems, and Safe Systems of Work.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and report safety hazards, near misses, and improvement opportunities.
• Support risk assessments, lockout/tagout procedures

Planned Maintenance

• Complete preventative and predictive maintenance tasks through the site CMMS (PEMAC).
• Execute maintenance schedules to required standards and within agreed timelines.
• Ensure accurate completion of work orders, maintenance records, and asset histories.
• Support calibration and statutory inspection programmes.

Breakdown Response

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, instrumentation, and control system faults.
• Respond effectively to breakdown situations to minimise production downtime.
• Support root cause analysis using TPM tools, 5 Why, RCFA, and problem-solving methodologies.

Reliability Improvement

• Identify recurring failures and propose sustainable engineering solutions.
• Support condition monitoring activities and equipment health assessments.
• Participate in asset improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Operational Support

• Participate in shift handovers and communicate equipment status effectively.
• Support production during brewery start-ups, changeovers, shutdowns, and commissioning activities.
• Assist with contractor supervision and project execution when required.

Essential

Knowledge & Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or equivalent engineering discipline.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read technical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
• Computer literacy and experience with CMMS systems.

Desirable

• Experience in brewing, food, beverage, or FMCG manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Experience with PLCs, VSDs, instrumentation, and automation systems.

• Minimum 3 years' maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

Working Pattern

Two-Shift Rotating Pattern

• Monday to Friday operation
• Week 1: Early Shift, 07:00 to 15:00
• Week 2: Late Shift, 15:00 to 23:00
• Rotating weekly basis
• Occasional flexibility required to support planned shutdowns, project work, breakdown recovery, and business-critical activities
