Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in an electrical/instrumentation role, ideally in water or process industry.
  • Proven knowledge of instrumentation systems and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and industrial control systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems on water treatment sites.
  • Conduct planned maintenance and fault-finding on electrical equipment.
  • Calibrate and verify instrumentation, including flow meters and pressure transmitters.

About the Role

Our client are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our team, working across water treatment projects in Carlow and Wexford. The role involves installation, maintenance, and calibration of electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation of water treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems on water treatment sites.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault-finding on instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Calibrate, test, and verify instrumentation, including flow meters, pressure transmitters, level sensors, and water quality monitoring equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical systems, control panels, and PLC hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, company procedures, and site regulations.
  • Support project teams with electrical and instrumentation aspects of new installations and upgrades.
  • Complete documentation, reports, and maintenance records accurately.
  • Work closely with site managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth delivery of works.
Requirements
  • Electrical Trade Qualification (National Craft Certificate or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an electrical/instrumentation role (ideally in water, utilities, or process industry).
  • Proven knowledge of instrumentation systems, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial control systems desirable.
