Job summary

John Sisk & Son is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Life Science team in Cork. The role leads electrical delivery on construction and fit-out projects, combining site supervision with technical design contribution, BIM coordination and team leadership to ensure safe, on-time, high-quality installation of electrical and building services systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience leading electrical delivery on Tier 1 construction or engineering projects
• Relevant health and safety training (e.g. Safe Pass, CSCS or equivalent)
• Knowledge of IEC, BS, IEEE, NFPA standards and project specifications
• Experience with BIM and digital project delivery tools

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical team and oversee delivery of LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, lighting, fire alarms and life safety systems
• Ensure electrical works meet programme, cost and quality objectives
• Provide technical guidance to engineers, supervisors and subcontractors
• Develop and implement strategies for electrical execution, resource allocation and planning
• Review and approve electrical design documents and material selections
• Oversee FATs, SATs, commissioning and IST for electrical scope
• Support validation and handover processes with accurate documentation

Overview

We have an opportunity for a Electrical Engineer to join our Life Science team in Cork.

Electrical Engineer / Building Services Engineer to lead electrical delivery on construction and fit-out projects. The role combines site supervision, technical design contribution, BIM coordination and team leadership to ensure safe, on-time and high-quality installation of electrical and building services systems.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Delivery

• Work the electrical team and oversee delivery of all electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, lighting, fire alarms and life safety systems
• Ensure all electrical works meet programme, cost and quality objectives
• Provide technical guidance to engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure effective delivery
• Develop and implement strategies for electrical execution, resource allocation and planning

Technical and Compliance Oversight

• Review and approve electrical design documents, technical submittals and material selections
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards and regulations (e.g. IEC, BS, IEEE, NFPA)
• Oversee FATs, SATs, commissioning and integrated system testing (IST) for electrical scope
• Support validation and handover processes with accurate documentation and system certification

Quality, Safety and Risk Management

• Drive health, safety and environmental compliance across all electrical works
• Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control procedures for electrical systems
• Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner

Stakeholder and Team Coordination

• Act as the primary point of contact for electrical scope with clients, consultants and regulatory bodies
• Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, process, instrumentation and BMS teams to ensure project integration
• Lead electrical coordination meetings and provide accurate reporting on progress, risks and opportunities to project leadership

Experience

Essentia l

• Strong technical expertise in electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, critical power systems and life safety systems
• Proven leadership experience on large-scale construction or engineering projects
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex workloads
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels of delivery
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements for electrical works

Desirable

• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, data centre or advanced technology projects
• Knowledge of commissioning and integrated system testing (IST) in regulated environments
• Familiarity with BIM and digital project delivery tools
• Commercial awareness including contract administration and cost control

Qualifications

Essential

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
• Demonstrated experience in leading electrical delivery on Tier 1 construction or engineering projects
• Relevant health and safety training (e.g. Safe Pass, CSCS or equivalent)

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional membership (e.g. Engineers Ireland, IET, CIBSE)
• Postgraduate qualification in project management or construction management
• Vendor-specific training or certification in switchgear, UPS, or critical power systems
• Training in GMP, cleanroom or other regulatory compliance relevant to life sciences and technology sectors
