We are looking for a hands-on Senior Data Architect to support enterprise data warehouse delivery within a banking/financial services environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Teradata, enterprise data warehousing, financial services data models, regulatory data, solution architecture, and stakeholder management.
This is a hands‑on architecture role, with approximately 50% of the work involving technical analysis, SQL investigation, solution validation, issue resolution, and delivery support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and support enterprise data warehouse architecture and solutions.
- Analyse source data, data flows, business requirements, and downstream data consumption.
- Perform hands‑on Teradata SQL analysis, data investigation, and technical validation.
- Develop High‑Level Designs (HLDs), Architecture Decision Documents (ADDs), solution options, and design rationale.
- Present architecture solutions to Architecture Boards and governance forums.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, engineers, testers, delivery leads, and other architects.
- Embed data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, reconciliation, controls, auditability, and regulatory compliance into solution design.
- Support engineering teams throughout build, testing, implementation, and issue resolution.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of Data Architecture experience, or equivalent Senior Data Engineering Lead experience with proven architecture ownership.
- Strong hands‑on Teradata experience in an on‑premises enterprise data warehouse environment.
- Strong Teradata SQL, data analysis, investigation, troubleshooting, and solution validation skills.
- Experience with Teradata Financial Services Data Model (FSDFM) or an equivalent financial services data model.
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Data Warehouse, data marts, data integration, and large-scale data platforms.
- Experience within Banking, Financial Services, or Regulatory Data environments.
- Strong understanding of BCBS 239, RDARR, regulatory reporting, data traceability, auditability, and data controls.
- Strong data modelling and source data analysis capabilities.
- Working knowledge of ETL processes, preferably Informatica and/or DataStage.
- Experience with metadata‑driven data ingestion, transformation, controls, reconciliation, or delivery frameworks.
- Working knowledge of Control‑M or similar batch scheduling/orchestration tools.
- Strong stakeholder management and governance presentation skills.
- Proven experience producing HLDs, ADDs, and governance‑ready architecture documentation.
- Experience with or strong understanding of Inmon‑style integrated enterprise data warehouse architecture.
