Job summary

National College of Ireland is seeking an Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Education to provide academic leadership for education professional development in the FE sector and PTECH programmes. The role supports curriculum review, programme development and quality assurance while contributing to academic research and publications.

Qualifications

• Master's in Education required.
• A PhD in Education or closely related discipline is highly desirable; candidates on a PhD track will be considered.
• Understanding of the Further Education sector and training requirements; registration as a FE teacher is beneficial but not required.
• Ability to engage with multiple stakeholder groups, including regulatory bodies such as The Teaching Council and QQI.
• Excellent teaching skills and an active research/publication track record in educational practice and/or learning and teaching.
• Experience of teaching in Higher Education is desirable.
• Ability to prepare course material and programme documentation; build relationships and collaborate.
• Adherence to professional standards of teaching; strong communication and digital technology skills.

Responsibilities

• Lecture on a range of modules in the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Educational Practice for Teaching in Further Education.
• Lecture on the Certificate in Educational Practice for PTECH and other education modules as needed.
• Engage with Programme Committee meetings, reviews and development of programmes.
• Support secondary schools participating in PTECH with content delivery and quality assurance of assignments.
• Act as Academic Programme Director on college programmes as necessary.
• Design and deliver curriculum and innovations in relation to programme improvement and academic enhancement.
• Engage in research, consultancy and development work relevant to education; participate in assessment processes and examinations.
• Develop new course materials and use learning technology and varied delivery contexts.
