Job summary

Google is seeking a Systems Development Engineer for Edge Infrastructure Operations in Dublin, Ireland. You will help manage systems at scale, automate operations, and build tools that reduce toil while improving observability and reliability.

The role emphasizes collaboration across teams, on-call coverage during Dublin hours, and partnering with ISPs to optimize network performance. A strong foundation in Linux, automation, and coding is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/IT or related field.
2 years of experience with system automation and coding (Go, Python, etc.).
2 years of experience with troubleshooting across Linux and networking.
2 years of experience with Linux/Unix administration and internals.

Responsibilities

Support Linux machines globally to ensure reliability of Google's content delivery and compute infrastructure.
Collaborate with partner ISPs for remote troubleshooting and IP networking support.
Work as part of a follow-the-sun operations roster during Dublin core hours.
Identify and implement projects to automate and improve support and onboarding of new hardware/services.
Partner closely with engineering teams, hardware vendors, product managers, and partners.
