Job description

Barden are partnering with a multinational renewable energy business as they seek a Project Engineer. The role will focusing on the design and development of renewable energy projects, particularly Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role involves overseeing technical design concepts, ensuring project deliverability, and supporting commercial viability. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers and provide input to procurement and construction teams. Expertise in BESS is highly preferred. This position plays a crucial role in decarbonizing the electricity system, increasing renewable energy use, and achieving Net Zero. The opportunity:

• Manage the production of physical design and access layouts using AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with the GIS team to produce constraints mapping to influence initial design.
• Address technical questions and challenges during the design and development of Energy Strorage Development projects.
• Oversee design documentation and conduct design risk assessments for each project.
• Document design decisions and changes in the Design Basis Report.
• Support the Planning Team with input into planning drawings.
• Review planning documentation with a focus on safety and noise.
• Check and review design reports and calculations from contractors.
• Participate in the fire safety working group for BESS and contribute to the fire hazard report and design mitigation.
• Manage Principal Designer responsibilities in line with CDM regulations, including the HSE File, and supervise external consultants.
• Assist in the production of Employer’s Requirements documents for contracts involving synchronous machines, energy storage developments, and civil and electrical balance of plant.
• Produce and review single/key line diagrams for projects.
• Review and assess technical parts of tender responses.
• Contribute to project cost estimates and evaluate options for cost optimization.
