Job summary

Cork County Council is seeking a Web Digital Officer to manage its main corporate website built on Drupal CMS. You will drive governance, content strategy, accessibility, and data protection across the site.

You will oversee performance monitoring, user journey optimisation, and collaboration with ICT, communications, and external partners to deliver digital services.

The role requires strategic advice to SMT and continuous improvement of online services in line with public sector standards.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a large public-sector website on Drupal CMS.
• Ability to implement web governance, workflows and quality assurance.
• Knowledge of GDPR, accessibility standards, and public sector digital norms.
• Strong collaboration with ICT, communications and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management, development, and continuous improvement of Cork County Council’s main corporate website (www.corkcoco.ie) built on the Drupal CMS platform.
• Oversee all content lifecycle processes including creation, editing, publishing, review, and archiving, ensuring consistency with council standards and policies.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including accessibility (WCAG) and data protection.
• Manage website performance, availability, and security, ensuring updates, backups, and patching.
• Develop and implement a structured content governance model with workflows and approvals.
• Monitor and analyse website traffic and engagement metrics to inform improvements.
• Coordinate website information architecture, navigation, and user journeys for service delivery.
• Liaise with internal departments, ICT and external vendors for coordinated development.
• Apply SEO best practices to optimise online discoverability.
• Lead website development projects, including upgrades and new features.
• Manage user roles and access within Drupal with governance and security controls.
• Support digital campaigns through the corporate website.
• Provide strategic advice to senior management on digital developments.
