Job summary

Merchants Quay Ireland in Longford/Westmeath is seeking a Project Worker (Drug Alcohol Worker) for the Midlands DATS Service. You will deliver a mobile needle exchange, provide education, advocacy and treatment support, and develop integrated care plans.

The role requires a Level 7 qualification in social care or a related field, MI/CBT training, at least 2 years’ experience in addiction or health and social care, and a full clean driver’s licence.

Qualifications

Relevant Level 7 qualification in social care/addiction or related field.
Training in Motivational Interviewing, CBT and relapse prevention.
Minimum two years’ experience in addiction, community development or health and social care.
Experience in crisis support, key working, case management and group facilitation.
Access to a full, clean driver’s license to drive company vehicle.

Responsibilities

Provide mobile needle and syringe exchange across the midland region.
Offer rehabilitation and aftercare support to service users exiting treatment or prison.
Deliver education, advocacy, information, and treatment support to service users and families.
Engage with service users and link to relevant services and agencies.
Develop and maintain integrated care plans; ensure case-management.
Formulate referral pathways and support transitions between services.
Deliver therapies including brief interventions, MI, CBT and relapse prevention.
Support service users in detoxification programs.
Collaborate with local services for comprehensive support.
Deliver harm reduction interventions in various settings.
Work with street drug users and ensure safe disposal of waste.
Provide psychosocial support during transition from treatment or prison.
Establish structured therapeutic sessions and activity-based interventions.
