Our client, a dynamic and growing Alternative Investment Fund Manager, is seeking to appoint a Designated Person to take ownership of Investment Management oversight within its Irish platform.
This is a high-impact role within a business at an important stage of growth. The successful individual will operate at the centre of the investment oversight framework, working closely with senior leadership in Ireland, the UK and across the wider group.
The position will suit a commercially aware investment professional who is ready to step into a broader, PCF-level role within an evolving and ambitious platform.
- Lead oversight of delegated investment management activities, ensuring alignment with fund strategy, risk parameters and regulatory requirements
- Maintain ongoing due diligence and performance monitoring of Investment Managers, with clear escalation of risks or breaches
- Deliver structured, high-quality reporting to the Board across investment performance, governance and delegate oversight
- Operate as a key interface with delegated Portfolio Managers, with regular engagement and effective challenge around investment activity, strategy, performance and risk.
- Support onboarding of new funds and broader platform expansion initiatives
- Contribute to regulatory engagement, including potential MiFID top-up permissions and evolving operating model
- Work collaboratively with other Designated Persons to ensure full delivery of the Programme of Activity
The Individual
- Undergraduate degree - economics or finance degree, ACA, CFA, CAIA, or MSc in Finance preferred.
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in asset management, investment oversight, or portfolio management
- Strong understanding of the investment process, ideally gained through portfolio management, investment analysis or working closely with Portfolio Managers in an oversight capacity. Good knowledge of alternative funds, strategies and asset classes would be particularly relevant.
- Comfortable engaging at Board level, with strong stakeholder and communication skills
- Good working knowledge of AIFMD and Irish regulatory framework
- Experience within a life assurance or insurance investment environment would be desirable, particularly involving investment oversight, delegated investment managers, unit-linked products or investment governance - Although this is not essential.
- Prior DP / PCF exposure is advantageous, but strong step-up candidates will be considered
- Experience in a proprietary ManCo or Asset Management environment preferred, though strong third-party ManCo backgrounds are also highly regarded.
