Job summary

The Office of Public Works (OPW) invites applications for the District Works Manager in Heritage Services – National Monuments. The role leads a team of craftspeople and industrial staff across six districts, ensuring safe, high‑quality maintenance and presentation of Ireland’s iconic monuments, such as Rock of Cashel and Skellig Michael.

Qualifications

• Role of District Works Manager within Heritage Services – National Monuments.
• Experience supervising a team of staff and managing depots and contracts.
• Awareness of Health & Safety regulations and construction policy.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a direct labour force and small contracts.
• Managing the district depot and sub-depots including staff, recruitment and training.
• Certifying wages, travel claims and depot expenditures.
• Carrying out PSCS and Health & Safety coordination under regulations.
• Monitoring quality of work and implementing safety policies.
• Ensuring compliance with office policies and procurement guidelines.
• Contributing to district works meetings and inspections of sites.
• Liaising with public bodies, stakeholders and the public.
• Managing external contracts and contractors.
